WeWriWa o5.19.19

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors / Snippet Sunday!

I'm sharing something new, something I'm slooowly working on. It's tentatively called Blood Wine. That name will probably change. Anyway, this story is about Anton Pierce, a young, handsome, wealthy winery owner and artist – who also happens to be a vampire- who falls for a woman named, Charlotte, at the art museum. He is immediately drawn to her not just for her beauty but because she is so bold and sassy. His true identity must not ever be revealed to her. Together they start a fiery romance laced with dom/sub dynamic. The story alternates between each of their points of view.

Where we last left off, Anton demanded to see his art exhibit before the opening. This picks right up from Anton holding the door open for her...

I mouthed thanks and walked in, he followed behind.
“Your feet really need a rest don’t they?” He mentioned.
“Yeah, these aren’t the most comfortable platform shoes to be in for more than a few hours.” I replied as I continued to clomp through the gallery, these shoes feeling more like bricks. As we walked around the outside of the auditorium, I turned to him.
“No complaining.” I said with attitude before bringing him around the corner.
He held his hands up and shook his head, “I promise.”
I held my hands out in ta-da motion, at the tables holding his bottles of fine wines and then continued walking into the gallery.

Where we last left off, Anton was about to demand something of Charlotte...

"I must demand that you show me the gallery that my work is in.” He said with a smile.
“You haven’t seen the gallery yet?!” I said, surprised that Jonathan hadn’t have shown him as soon as he walked in.
Mr. Pierce shook his head.
I grabbed my phone and looked at the time.
“Okay, we have about ten minutes before the guests arrive.”
I opened the door to the main gallery, holding it open for Mr. Pierce; he reached over my head and grabbed onto the door.
“After you.” He said, holding the door, rather, for me.

What will happen...he might possibly be alone with her? Thanks for reading! You can read more amazing authors here and here.

I busied myself with organizing for the morning shift, trying to put the handsome Mr. Pierce out of my mind. As I worked, I couldn’t help but look up every few minutes to see what Mr. Pierce was up to. I finished organizing and went to look up, only Mr. Pierce was standing in front of the desk; I jumped back, a little startled.
“I apologize, I did not mean to frighten you.”
“It’s okay. You’re so quiet though, but I wasn’t paying attention either.”
“I didn’t want to disturb whatever you were doing, you looked a bit lost in thought.”
“I was just organizing for tomorrow morning.” I said, although it took longer for me to organize simply because I was lost in thought...about him. “Well, I need to be demanding at the moment."

Oooo what will he demand? Thanks for reading! You can read more amazing authors here and here.

“Perfect,” I smiled, “now enough of my unprofessionalism...I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t be, I deal with boring by the book professionals every single day, its nice to meet someone with sense of humor and attitude.”
Jonathan once again, called Mr. Pierce’s name. He acknowledged Jonathan and turned back to me.
“If you would excuse me, Miss Charlotte.” He reached for my hand, “It was a pleasure to meet you.”
He gently kissed the back of my hand.
“Likewise, Mr. Pierce.” I smiled.

“Anton.” He said, staring at me before walking off.

Mr. Pierce cocked an eyebrow. “Well, I do apologize Miss Charlotte, that I had to request a later than usual reception, my schedule can get a bit crazy sometimes.”
His accent really slipped through when he said my name and the way he had said Miss, I trying my best not to melt.
“Please don’t apologize, it’s really not your fault. I apologize for my attitude, it’s just...me. Please let me know if there is anything you need or anything I can get you, I’ll be stuck to that desk most of the night.”
“Well, I can be very demanding when I want to be. But I assure you I don’t need much, I’m not like most artists who will complain that everything is wrong.”
I wasn’t sure if he was referring to his wine business dealings or something else. I honestly had hoped he meant it in other ways; stop thinking dirty thoughts, I told myself.

This week's snippet skips a little ahead from last week, where Charlotte introduces herself.

“Hi, Mr. Pierce,” I smiled, “I’m Charlotte.” I must have sounded like a robot with a pre-recorded message, giving him a standard intro that everyone was giving him, but I was trying to act professional.
He smiled, shaking my hand. I felt bad, my hands were always so damn cold, but his was just as cold, probably from having just been outside.

“Please, no Mr. Pierce, call me Anton.” He said. I noticed he had a very slight accent, not American.
“Okay.” I replied, what came next out of my mouth wasn’t even embarrassing, since it came out so natural and with my attitude, as if it were a warning to him. “Well, I’m your personal servant...slave...assistant tonight.”
“Sorry.” I added, sorry but not.

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors / Snippet Sunday! I'm kind of back, here and there. I hope everyone is well and I have missed you guys!

Together they start a fiery romance laced with dom/sub dynamic. The story alternates between each of their points of view.

This is at the beginning of the story where Charlotte sees Anton for the first time. Charlotte is the Admissions Desk Representative and the art museum is holding an artist reception for Anton. She is at her desk with Dana, a co-worker...

She asked to borrow a pen to write something down, as she wrote, I happened to look up and a see a man walk through the front entrance. He was tall, nicely built, with dark hair that was styled longish past his ear on one side and short on the other; he had wide steel plug earrings in both ears. He was dressed all in black; black suit styled pants, black shirt, and a black suit jacket, all with a gothic flare. The kind of clothing I was usually into...damn.

“That’s Anton Pierce?” I asked.
Dana looked up. “Yup.” She said nonchalantly and went back to writing, not impressed by him. He looked in my direction and slightly smiled before Jonathan ran up to him to give him details about the night.

Thanks for reading! Some of you might have read some of this before as I was sharing snippets on the MidWeek Tease blog hop. And since I have my kiddos today, I will read & comment on Wednesday or Thursday.

Vampire Friday 1o.12.18

Welcome to Vampire Friday, my favorite day of the week! I am in and out of participating depending on how my work week goes. So far, I'm still trying to balance work with writing and posting.

Where we last left off, Reed ripped out Danny's heart right in front of Karlea. Vaughn showed up to help rescue Karlea, making her drink his blood, so she would hopefully be strong enough to fight off vampires. She was doing well, until one of Reed's men knocked her across the floor...
Karlea tasted her own blood in her mouth.
"Well, that hurt." She said with attitude that resembled Vaughn's as she pulled herself from the floor.
A boot connected with her torso. Her ribs cracking from the force made her scream. She fumbled in her pocket for the stake Jake gave her at his apartment. As the vampire stood over her, Karlea twisted as best as she could, to stab him in the foot. She screamed from the overwhelming wall of pain that shot up over the pain she was already feeling. Before the vampire could fall to the floor paralyzed, a stake pierced his heart from behind. As the body fell, Jake was standing behind him. He rushed to her side.
"I think he broke most of my ribs." She said.

"Vaughn's blood in your system will heal you."
As Jake could spoke, Karlea withered about, Vaughn's blood healing her. Karlea jumped to her feet, ready to take the next round of Reed's men with Jake.

Meanwhile, Reed smashed Vaughn into the wall.
"Damn Vaughn, even you had a few tastes of the girl. She's intoxicating, isn't she?" Reed looked over at her as she was beating one of his men. "She's doing pretty well for herself considering she's still human. We could have it all- you, me, Jake I suppose - and the girl can be our play thing. We can feed from her and whatever else we want. One big happy family."
"I don't think she'd like that very much." Vaughn replied, sarcasm in his voice. "She's a fiesty one, she'd probably rip your balls off."
"Then she'll need to be taught a few manners, and we all know how I do that."
Vaughn looked at Karlea, Reed's method of torture running through his mind.
Vaughn shook his head, "I'll have to say no to your big happy family. You're not getting her--."
Before Vaughn could finish, Reed smashed his fist into Vaughn's face.

Karlea staked another one of Reed's men, she looked over at Jake who was surrounded by them, but taking them all at once. Her attention was then turned to Reed, who was standing over Vaughn taunting him. His back turned towards her. All she could see was Reed ripping out Danny's heart, was he about to do the same to Vaughn?

She looked over at Jake quickly before running at Reed, ready to stake him in the back.
"Karlea, no!" Jake screamed.

Reed's hand caught her by the throat before she even knew what was happening, making her drop the stake.
"All I have to do is squeeze a little harder..." Reed's voice boomed.
Reed held her up by the throat, her feet dangling in the air. He was crushing her throat.
her hand pried at his. Jake stopped fighting his men. Reed nodded, and two of his men grabbed onto Jake and held him, as two more went for Vaughn.
Reed loosened his grip on Karlea's throat just enough to let her breathe. He set her down against the wall, trapping her with his body. He listened to her heart race. He smiled as he took in her scent and her fear. He wrapped his arm around the back of her waist, his other hand caressed her, and stopped at her heart. Karlea closed her eyes, her body visibly shaking. She was certain this was it and her heart was next.
Reed chuckled,"You think I'm going to rip out your heart...I have much better plans for you, love."
Karlea stared him in the eyes as he continued, "One day, I will take your heart but not today."
Reed sunk his fangs deep into her. He drank until her heart slowed and she was barely conscious.
"You are the most intoxicating human I've ever drank from, why is that?" He said, sounding drunk on her.
"I don't know." Karlea replied, dreamily, her head spinning, teetering on going unconscious. "Don't let go of me." She said quietly, her legs not able to hold her
"I don't intend to. But right now is not our time. I have pressing matters I must take care of first before we can be together."

Reed bit his wrist. She could hear Jake and Vaughn screaming at her not to drink, but they sounded so far away. Reed placed his wrist in her mouth, closing his fist so more blood would drip from the wound.
"I'm not turning you, just healing your blood loss, so you can stand. I apologize for taking so much, but it is so hard to stop with you. Drink. All you need is a drop."
His blood hit her tongue, and it seemed to almost dissolve. Her tongue and throat tingled, then the rest of her body. Her heart seemed to jump start back to it normal pace, making her inhale sharp. It was like she was coming to after being passed out. She looked wide eyed at Reed as he pulled his wrist away.
"That was more than a drop, love. This should be entertaining." He smiled, "Too bad I can't stick around for it."
"I will be back for you." He whispered, kissing her on the head. Reed nodded to his men, who let Jake and Vaughn go.

Karlea watched as Reed disappeared, her heart accelerating. She leaned against the wall, her balance totally off. Jake appeared in front of her, grabbing onto her.
"What the fuck is going on, why the fuck do i feel so drunk and high?"
"Because you drank his blood." Jake replied, emotionless.
"Oh." Karlea replied, before falling on the floor, laughing.
Jake looked over at Vaughn.
"Remind you of anyone from the other night?" Vaughn said.

Jake sighed, "I hadn't drank live human blood in long time, okay? The first time back on it always fuck you up."
Vaughn shrugged and pulled the stake from Matt. Matt came to and stood up.
"What a fucking mess." Matt said as he looked around. He looked at Karlea. "What's wrong with her?"
"She's a little fucked up right now." Vaughn replied.
Vaughn made his way over to her.
"We need to get her home." He said to Jake.

Jake scooped her up, into his arms.
"Hey," Matt said as Jake walked by, "I don't want her back here. Reed's coming back for her, I gotta protect everyone else that works here, you understand?"
Jake nodded, and continued walking towards the exit.

Vampire Friday o9.21.18

Welcome to Vampire Friday, my favorite day of the week!

I don't remember how long ago I last posted, but where I left off Reed killed Karlea's ex-boyfriend, more like ripped his heart out and ate it, making Karlea watch. Vaughn showed up to rescue Karlea, as he had some words with Reed. Vaughn's last line to Reed was how he was always killing people...

"I only kill those I feed from and those that betray me." Reed smirked, "Why you and Jake still exist, I question all the time. You both should have been dead a long time ago."
Vaughn made his way over to Karlea. "Everyone betrays you, Reed, that should tell you something about yourself."
Vaughn grabbed onto Karlea. She fell into his chest and continued sobbing.
"Look at you, Vaughn, helping a weak human girl, instead of feeding off of her. Risking your existence to save her. Never thought I'd see the day. Jake, I expect that from, not you. Just continue to be a disappointment."
Vaughn discretely made a large slash across his chest with his nails, while Reed spoke. He pushed Karlea into him more as if he were trying to console her to cover up that he was guiding her mouth to the bleeding wound. Karlea caught on and drank as much blood as she could. Vaughn guided one of her hands to the inside of the back pocket on his pants, inside of it were wooden stakes.
"Ouch." Vaughn retorted sarcastically to Reed, as if his being a disappointment hurt him.
Vaughn's blood started to take a hold of her. She felt strange, like she was on a drug...euphoric and full of lust, but the severity of the situation also made her strong, as if she could break someone in two, and filled with animosity.
Vaughn's wound healed, Karlea slightly looked up at him. She caught his eye, he looked down at her as the side of his mouth curled up in a tiny smirk. A dark intense sparkle reflected off her eyes as she looked at him...she was ready for battle.

"I wasn't really saving her," Vaughn said, smiling, "I was preparing her for a fight."
With that, Vaughn purposely pushed her out of the way and closer to where Jake lay, as he lunged at Reed.

One of Reed's men, closest to Karlea, blocks her path to Jake, he takes a swing at her but with Vaughn's blood in her, she jumps back quick. She doesn't understand it, but instinct makes her run forward at him, ducking under his next swing, and landing the stake in her right hand into his torso. He fell to the ground paralyzed. She took another stake from her other hand and drove it into his heart, retrieving the first from his torso. His body stiffened, turning a shade of grey.
She is surprised at her strength and quickness. She runs at the next of Reed's men, using the little martial arts training she has to kick him down with force. He falls to the floor and Karlea rams a stake through his heart. She reaches Jake and yanks the stake from him. Jake coming to.
"Hurry up and heal, I'm going to need you." She shouts, before another one of Reed's men comes at her, hitting her across the face sending her flying across the floor.

Vampire Friday o8.o3.18

Welcome to Vampire Friday!
We continue on where we left off the last time.
Reed
"Bring him in." Reed said to his men. Before Karlea could blink, two of Reed's men dragged in a man with a sack over his head. His clothes were dirty and his shirt was soaked in blood. As the men held him in one place, his body was clearly trembling. A third man of Reed's went to remove the sack, Karlea already knew who it was.
"Danny." She said, as his eyes tried to adjust to the light.

He looked weak and almost dead. His skin was so pale. He was dripping sweat and shaking like he was cold at the same time.
"He claims that you have what he stole from me." Reed said as he faced her.
"I don't have it. He said he broke into my apartment and hid it. Then he ransacked it the other day."
Reed yanked her closer to him. He felt her heavy breath on his chest, she was scared. He lifted her chin up, so she was looking him in the eyes.
"I apologize if this hurts a bit." He said before forcing his way into her memories. Karlea screamed.

"Can you feel me?" Reed asked.
"Yes." She whispered.
Reed searched her memories of Danny, it only took seconds to know everything about their relationship; when they met, the good times, the bad when everything started to fall apart, the abuse, and the piece he really wanted to know.
"You are telling the truth." He stated.

Before he let Karlea's mind go, he quickly read all of her life's memories from when she was little up until this very moment. He left her. Karlea couldn't help but rest her head against his chest when he was done.
"It would have been a tragedy to have to kill you." He said to her.
He went over to Danny.
"That means you've been lying. You're so fucking gone, you believe your own lies. Although, I have to thank you because without those lies, I would have never been brought to her."
Danny suddenly came to life, as if someone had turned a switch on somewhere. He started laughing hysterically as if he was out of his mind.
"She don't have it. Luna gave it to someone, I dunno who."
Karlea watched as Reed's eyes turned red. He grabbed Danny by the shirt collar and pulled him forward.
Danny's hysterical laugh mixed with pain as Reed tried to read his thoughts. Reed quickly let go and let Danny fall to the ground, still laughing. Reed walked past one of his men, taking something from him.
He walked over to where Matt was on the ground, "This is for the mess."
Reed threw the stack of money he was holding, landing it perfectly on the bar. He went back in between Karlea and Danny, who had been retrieved from the floor, still laughing and being held again by Reed's men.
"This should make her happy after everything you put her through." Reed said, looking at Karlea, his eyes changing to black.  He faced Danny, who just kept on laughing.
Karlea screamed as she watched Reed punch his fist through Danny's chest and rip out his heart. Danny's blood poured out and started to cover the floor, his laugh silenced. Reed's fangs pierced Danny's heart as he drank the blood within it.

Karlea sobbed, the club starting to spin around on her.
Reed pulled out a handkerchief and wiped his mouth of the blood. His dress shirt covered in blood as well.
"You can come out, Vaughn, I know you're trying to sneak in." Reed called towards the front doorway, "I can always sense you, Vaughn."

Vaughn appeared from around the corner.
"Always so good to see you again." Vaughn said so plainly, meaning the exact opposite of what he had just said. He took stock of where Jake was and the situation, adding "And killing people as always."

Vampire Friday o7.2o.18

Welcome to Vampire Friday!
This continues on from where I left off a few weeks ago.

Reed
As Matt started to take down Reed's men like dominoes, Jake went for Reed. He grabbed onto Reed's collar, throwing him into the wall with such force the bricks cracked.
Reed laughed. "I don't know why you have to make this so difficult, I just want the girl."

"You can't have her." Jake replied.
Reed grabbed ahold of Jake and threw him across the room, only when he hit the wall and fell to the floor, bricks fell with him. Reed appeared in front of him.
"You always seem to forget, Jake, I'm so much stronger than you. This is pointless."
The crunch of Jake's bones echoed as Reed stomped on his leg.  Jake yelled out.
Reed pulled out a stake as he kept his weight on Jake's leg. He turned to see Matt, still beating the crap out of his men. Reed shook his head and threw the stake at Matt, nailing him in the torso. Matt hit the ground, paralyzed.
Jake grabbed onto Reed and did his best to throw Reed off of him and across the floor. Jake made it slowly to his feet, putting his weight on his one still good leg. Reed ran and lunged at him, shoving him into the wall, Reed throwing punches.
"STOP!!!" Karlea screamed, as she ran around the corner.
Reed turned to look at her, holding Jake by the throat.
"Ah, just who I was looking for." Reed said. He threw Jake to the floor and faced her.
"You must be Karlea. I'm --"

"Reed. I know who you are." Karlea said.
"Oh, good you've heard of me." Reed replied.
Karlea ran over to Jake's side, not turning her back on Reed. Tears streamed down her face.
Reed took in her scent as she kneeled next to Jake, right in front of him.

"Wow, Jake, you really courted this one." Reed glanced at Karlea, "I can smell him all over you, many times over."
Karlea rolled her eyes. "Fuck you." She said, quietly.
Reed smirked and then nodded towards his men. Two of them appeared next to Karlea, pulling her up and away from Jake, as she tried to fight the grip they had on her. Another one of his men, tossed Reed a stake.

"No." Karlea screamed, as Reed planted the stake into Jake. Just missing his heart.
"He'll be fine," Reed said, "he may need to drain a few to recover, but he will recover. He's lucky I'm only in the mood to kill one today. Next time, however..."

Reed nodded again to his men that held Karlea. They released their hold and shoved her forward into Reed. He grabbed onto her and held his arms around her, as she tried to push herself away from him.
He laughed, "Struggling is pointless. Although, I am enjoying it, so please continue."
Karlea looked up at him and stopped, not wanting to give him the satisfaction. And he was much stronger than her, so it wasn't doing any good.
"You simply don't listen, do you?" Reed joked, before slapping her across the face. "That was for rolling your eyes at me before. I don't tolerate that, its rude."
"So is commenting on how many times I fuck someone." She replied.

Reed snickered, "I wouldn't tolerate that mouth either. You could be some real fun."
He stared at her for a bit, thinking of all the possibilities, before snapping himself away, "Right, first, the issue at hand. There's only one I want to kill today, and I have a feeling its not going to be you if you give me the answer I'm expecting that you're going to give."
Reed walked over to his men, dragging Karlea by the wrists behind him.

Vampire Friday o7.o6.18

Welcome to Vampire Friday, my favorite day of the week!

We continue on right where we left off last time, where Jake sensed Reed.
(Some background because I have been absent from this blog hop for a while - Reed is one of the first & oldest vampires. He made Vaughn, and Vaughn then made Jake, so there's a bit of history between them all. Matt is Karlea's boss at the nightclub.)

Reed
"Go be with Karlea. I'll stall Reed." Matt said.
Jake shook his head, feeling Reed's presence. "He's already inside." Jake said, quietly with no emotion.
Jake closed his eyes and then turned around. Reed was sitting at the bar facing them. It had been at least a century since he had seen Reed. He looked good, as always, dressed in the latest fashions, looking like a young, wealthy CEO in his thirties. His hair dark brown and short. His eyes, where the brightest blue-grey, that mesmerized most humans, and could stare through anyone, human or not. Right now, they were staring through him.
"I was wondering when I would see you again, grand dad." Jake sarcastically said.
Reed snarled, "I hate when you call me that."

"Why I do it."
"You are no grand progeny of mine, Jake," Reed replied, "and neither is Vaughn. Where is he anyway, I'm surprised he's not attached to your hip?"
Reed nodded his head.
"I don't know, Reed, I think he's busy draining his current interns." Jake looked behind him to see that he and Matt where surrounded by Reed's men. With another nod from Reed, a few of his men scattered, to round up the human bartenders, DJ, and security team; Reed's men using compulsion to keep them quiet. The rest of the security team that were not human, ended up with paralyzing stakes in them.
"That girl, though," Reed continued, "she may have potential. She might make a good progeny of mine. Her blood is not only sweet, but strong, even though it was cold. I had a taste in the alley the other night, off the blade that stabbed her. I could only imagine what it tastes like warm."
Reed smiled, "So, where is she, Jake? I know she's here. I'm not going to harm her...yet. I have a few questions I need to ask her regarding a business matter."
"Go to hell, Reed." Jake replied.
Reed shook his head, "You're better off calling her because it isn't going to be so pretty if I have to find her."
Jake looked over at Matt.
"Really Jake? The two of you are going to fight me, with all my men surrounding you?"

Jake just stared at Reed, a low growl escaping him.

Vampire Friday o6.29.18

Welcome to Vampire Friday! I have been M.I.A for far too long.

We continue where I left off months ago. Jake went with Karlea to work to be her own personal bodyguard against Reed.

"Here." Karlea said, as she set a drink of whiskey on the bar in front of Jake. He looked at it and looked at her. "Its the least I can do while you sit there and watch me work."
She smiled and went back to setting up the bar for the night. Jake finished texting Vaugh then watched her dance around behind the bar as she set more bottles of alcohol on the shelves. The DJ already getting his set up running, turning his mixes on lower than club volume, so everyone could still hear each other.
Karlea came back over stocking cherries, limes, lemon, and orange slices.
"Hey Girl, feeling better?" Karlea's co-bartender, Tammy, said as she entered behind the bar.
"Yeah, I was really sick. Couldn't get out of bed." Karlea replied, staring at Jake.
"Here," Tammy said handing her a packaged salad, "Maybe if you ate sometimes, you wouldn't get so sick. You're way too skinny."

"Oh my god, I'm actually so hungry. Thanks, Tammy." Karlea replied as she quickly opened the salad and dug into it.
"I totally forgot to feed you. I'm so sorry." Jake said.
Tammy glared at him for a second. "Ugh, guys." She said before walking off.

Karlea laughed, looking at Jake, "If she only knew."
"You fed me and I totally forgot to feed you." Jake replied, concerned.
"Its okay, I'm sure you're not used to having a human in the house." She replied, quietly.
"True, but I need to have food for you. Also need to get you some B6 supplements, if I'm going to be drinking from you. You need to keep your strength up or you will be unconscious in my bed for most of your existence."
"I don't mind being in your bed, but I'd prefer to be conscious." She shot back with a wicked smile on her face.
She went back to her salad as she finished setting up.

"Karlea," Matt called from the other end of the bar, "here go get the cash drawers from the safe."
He threw his keys with force at her. Karlea attempted to catch them but they hit her hand before landing with a loud thud on the floor.
"Ouch." She yelled, "Damn it, Matt, you know I'm not like you."

Matt chuckled. When Karlea had returned tonight to the club, her, Jake and Matt had to have a talk to let Matt know what was going on. Jake let her in beforehand that Matt was actually a vampire, too, along with some of the security guards. Matt already was aware of something going on between Danny and Luna, that involved dragging Karlea into it. But it wasn't until tonight that he knew that Reed was the one looking for Karlea.

Jake was too busy staring off towards the door sensing something, as Karlea walked off towards Matt's office. Jake looked over at Matt, as Matt, too, caught the scent of vampires. He rushed over to Jake's side as they watched towards the door.
"Reed." Jake said, "I can feel him in my blood."

Oh no, not looking good...
