WeWriWa o7.29.18

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors / Snippet Sunday!

Where we last left off, Karlea and Armani were drinking from each other...
Armani gently pulled away from her neck as she pulled away from his wrist, both of them using their fingers to wipe the blood off their lips as they faced each other.
Karlea shook her head, "This is my life now."

"Its not so bad." Armani winked; he eyed her torn dress. "As much as I would love to have you running around here naked all the time, you need some new clothes."
"I have clothes, they're in Manhattan." Karlea said with her attitude.
"I'm not taking you back there, just to get your clothes, when I can buy you all new ones."

"Right." She replied, rolling her eyes.

Ughh...I wanted to post more, but this is 10 and I have to stop.

MidWeek Tease o7.25.18

Welcome to MidWeek Tease! Thank you to Angelica Dawson for hosting this fun blog hop!

Where we left off last week, Charlotte was about to go on her date with the handsome Anton Pierce.

“I never even asked what we were doing tonight?” She said, as I got into the car.
I looked at her. She was again so beautiful, but her heart...her heart had been ringing in my ears since I stepped out of the car. Her heart was racing. She was nervous. Mine would have been, too, if I had one that worked.
It made it difficult to answer her, I was so focused on the sound of her heart. “There’s an indie deathrock band from Toronto playing at Plush Lounge.”
“I don’t know if they are any good.” I added as I smiled.
“Okay..” She smiled back with uncertainty in her voice.
“If they totally bomb it, we can leave and find something else to do. This is Rochester, so not many choices, though.”
She laughed loudly, “Don’t remind me.”
“Or you could just come home with me.” I threw in.
She stopped laughing and looked at me with a teasing look on her face.
“Should we just do that now? Skip the possibly shitty band and just get to it.” She challenged with her usual snarky tone.
“If I thought you were serious without that sarcastic tone of yours, I would agree.” I said as I started to drive away. “But at least I know you’re prepared to go home with me.”
I winked at her jokingly. She laughed and covered her face with her hand.
“How was your day?” She asked, trying to change the subject as I drove.
I looked over at her, “Longer than I thought it would be…”
“But that’s the wine business.” I quickly added.
I looked at her again, “Thank you for being understanding tonight.”
“Yeah, no worries. Trust me I have nothing better to do in this town. Besides I can’t imagine running a wine business.”
"Well, maybe you will get a taste of it at some point." I said, glancing over at her.
"I don't know. I think I'm more equipped to manage your artwork than wine."
We drove to the venue as I listened her talk in depth about the first day of the exhibit.

The venue wasn’t too packed as some electropop band was on the stage, as we walked in. Mostly a hipster crowd that was just looking to get their drink on for a Saturday night. With Charlotte on my arm, I led her over to the bar.
“What can I get you to drink?” I asked.
“Some Pierce Wine would be good. I hear its amazing,” She replied, smiling,  “like its owner.”
I stared at her for a moment before shaking my head and laughing, wanting to play along, “I’m sorry, miss, they don’t serve that here.”
“Oh, well that’s disappointing. Mr. Pierce should change that.”
“Maybe in the future he will.” I smiled.
“That’s okay, I needed something stronger anyways.”
“Okay, then.”
I ordered us each Absinthe. I handed the first one over to Charlotte as she thanked me. Her eyes seemed to sparkle as she looked at me. I wanted to get lost in them, but had to pay the bartender. I took my drink and walked towards the area where the stage was with her following. I took her hand in mine and placed it back on my arm.
“I like it there.” I said.
She looked up at me, “I do, too.”
“Good.” I smiled.
We stopped near the side of the stage. With her still holding onto my arm, we toasted our glasses. I watched her tip hers back first before drinking mine.
“Strong enough?” I asked.
“No,” She smiled, “but it will do.”
“I have some real illegal homemade Kentucky moonshine back at my place. Can’t get much stronger than that.”
“We’re going to end up there, aren’t we?”
“I don’t want assume anything.” I replied, “Its not an expectation.”
I added, “But I do remember us agreeing to being as unprofessional and inappropriate as we like.”
She smiled back, her heart racing again, “I do remember that.”
We stood and watched the band play. I couldn’t help but notice her body swaying, all sexy, to the music. I could tell she was a dancer and a probably a very good one. Then again she lived in Los Angeles previously, lots of debauchery going on there, so I won’t be surprised if she was a former go-go dancer. I had been around the world, I know how remote this city can be. I would have to figure out a way to take her on a trip to a bigger city, so she could be let out of her box she was in here. It must be killing her inside.

Thanks for reading! I'm still writing this scene, so far what I have might be hot & steamy. Anything anyone wants to see happen?

WeWriWa o7.22.18

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors / Snippet Sunday!

We continue on where we left off last week, where Karlea told Armani that she wasn't going to make anything easy for him...

"Besides, "Armani added, raising an eyebrow, "I never said I didn't have ways of handling you when you don't make things easy."
Karlea narrowed her eyes at him as Armani raised his wrist to his mouth, biting it. He walked over to Karlea, wrapping his bleeding wrist around the front of her as he stood behind her.
"You best drink." He commanded. "The withdrawal symptoms you're feeling are only going to get worse and more intense.
She wanted to resist but she needed it, she placed her lips on his wound and let the blood run down her throat, a moan escaping Armani.
He pushed her hair to the side and whispered in her ear, "So our journey begins."
He planted a few soft kisses on her neck before sucking on her skin, his fangs entering her as he did.

Vampire Friday o7.2o.18

Welcome to Vampire Friday!
This continues on from where I left off a few weeks ago.

Reed
As Matt started to take down Reed's men like dominoes, Jake went for Reed. He grabbed onto Reed's collar, throwing him into the wall with such force the bricks cracked.
Reed laughed. "I don't know why you have to make this so difficult, I just want the girl."

"You can't have her." Jake replied.
Reed grabbed ahold of Jake and threw him across the room, only when he hit the wall and fell to the floor, bricks fell with him. Reed appeared in front of him.
"You always seem to forget, Jake, I'm so much stronger than you. This is pointless."
The crunch of Jake's bones echoed as Reed stomped on his leg.  Jake yelled out.
Reed pulled out a stake as he kept his weight on Jake's leg. He turned to see Matt, still beating the crap out of his men. Reed shook his head and threw the stake at Matt, nailing him in the torso. Matt hit the ground, paralyzed.
Jake grabbed onto Reed and did his best to throw Reed off of him and across the floor. Jake made it slowly to his feet, putting his weight on his one still good leg. Reed ran and lunged at him, shoving him into the wall, Reed throwing punches.
"STOP!!!" Karlea screamed, as she ran around the corner.
Reed turned to look at her, holding Jake by the throat.
"Ah, just who I was looking for." Reed said. He threw Jake to the floor and faced her.
"You must be Karlea. I'm --"

"Reed. I know who you are." Karlea said.
"Oh, good you've heard of me." Reed replied.
Karlea ran over to Jake's side, not turning her back on Reed. Tears streamed down her face.
Reed took in her scent as she kneeled next to Jake, right in front of him.

"Wow, Jake, you really courted this one." Reed glanced at Karlea, "I can smell him all over you, many times over."
Karlea rolled her eyes. "Fuck you." She said, quietly.
Reed smirked and then nodded towards his men. Two of them appeared next to Karlea, pulling her up and away from Jake, as she tried to fight the grip they had on her. Another one of his men, tossed Reed a stake.

"No." Karlea screamed, as Reed planted the stake into Jake. Just missing his heart.
"He'll be fine," Reed said, "he may need to drain a few to recover, but he will recover. He's lucky I'm only in the mood to kill one today. Next time, however..."

Reed nodded again to his men that held Karlea. They released their hold and shoved her forward into Reed. He grabbed onto her and held his arms around her, as she tried to push herself away from him.
He laughed, "Struggling is pointless. Although, I am enjoying it, so please continue."
Karlea looked up at him and stopped, not wanting to give him the satisfaction. And he was much stronger than her, so it wasn't doing any good.
"You simply don't listen, do you?" Reed joked, before slapping her across the face. "That was for rolling your eyes at me before. I don't tolerate that, its rude."
"So is commenting on how many times I fuck someone." She replied.

Reed snickered, "I wouldn't tolerate that mouth either. You could be some real fun."
He stared at her for a bit, thinking of all the possibilities, before snapping himself away, "Right, first, the issue at hand. There's only one I want to kill today, and I have a feeling its not going to be you if you give me the answer I'm expecting that you're going to give."
Reed walked over to his men, dragging Karlea by the wrists behind him.

MidWeek Tease o7.18.18

Welcome to MidWeek Tease! And as always, thank you to Angelica Dawson for hosting this fun blog hop!

I'm continuing on with my WIP and where I left off last week, where Charlotte is freaking out about her date. Just as some background, Charlotte works at the art museum, but her other life in Los Angeles, she was a fire performance artist and an aerial silks artist.

Amie got up and made her way to the stairs that led upstairs to the backdoor of her apartment. “I’ll see you in the morning...or maybe I won’t. Maybe you won’t come home tonight.”
I stuck my tongue out at her as she quickly disappeared inside. I made my way to the silks, being in the air always balanced me, too. I was thankful for the warmer than usual September weather, so the silks could be hanging longer. Pretty soon they would have to be stored away for the winter, I liked not having to go to the aerial studio to practice. I wasn’t wearing the ideal outfit for practicing, but I really wasn’t going for perfect form, I just needed to fly to calm my heart from beating out of my chest.
Why the hell was I feeling like this?

As I balanced my weight between the silks and tried to focus on centering myself to calm down, I heard a car pull up. No doubt Mr. Pierce’s shiny black Lexus. I flipped down the silks, landing my feet on the crash mat, as gracefully as I could being in boots. I ran over and checked my appearance quickly in the reflection of my bedroom window, pulling the hood up, and went to the front gate. Here we go…

He was walking up as I got to the gate.
“Hey.” I smiled, as I walked out of the gate and shut it. He was dressed all in black, again, cargo pants and a button up dress shirt that was un-tucked...and eyeliner.
He smiled and his eyes seemed to light up. “Hey.”
He already was as intoxicating as last night. He gave me a hug, I was hoping he couldn’t feel my heart or hear it beating against my chest. I wanted to not ever let go of him.
“You look just as stunning as last night.” He said in my ear.
“Thank you.” I replied, “I’m not under dressed am I?”
“Absolutely not. I would have told you to dress up, if I had something fancy to go to. There will be those nights, but not tonight.”
He had made several references to future dates together since we had met, and yes, I had made one, but every time he did, it made me scream inside. This one, I wasn’t thrilled about fancy engagements but the fact that he wanted to take me and be with me, made me excited.
“These are for you.” He said, as he held out a bouquet of dark red and black roses. I was so busy staring at him that I never noticed he was carrying flowers.
“They’re so beautiful, thank you.” I said as I took them from him and smelled them.
“They match you perfectly.” He commented.
As I smiled, he held out his arm, “Shall we go?”
I wrapped my arm around his, holding the flowers in the other. He led me to the car, opening the door for me.

WeWriWa o7.15.18

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors / Snippet Sunday!

We continue on where we left off last week, where Karlea admitted to Armani that he was right...Jake left her because he didn't want to be with her for an eternity...

"Truth hurts, doesn't it?" Armani replied. "At least you came to your senses."
Karlea stared at him, her eyes becoming daggers through him. She took a few steps, closing the gap between them.
With a certainty that Armani had not ever heard from her, she said while poking him hard in the chest, "We'll do this, but I will NOT make it easy for you."

Armani's lips curled into a devilish smile. "From what I know of you, I wouldn't expect anything less, love."
The same devilish grin creeping across her face.

I apologize to everyone. I tried to get to everyone's snippets and lost track of the week. I also lost track of which ones I read/commented on, I was all super confused. *facepalm* So, I will try again this week.

MidWeek Tease o7.11.18

Welcome to MidWeek Tease! Thanks to Angelica Dawson for hosting this fun blog hop!

We continue where we left off last week, this time we are in a new chapter, in Charlotte's point of view. She is getting ready for her anticipated date with the handsome Mr. Pierce...
“Do I look okay?” I asked my upstairs neighbor, Amie, as we sat out on the patio together. It was an unusually warm night for September in the northeast. I had no idea what Mr. Pierce and I would be doing for our date. I was wearing my usual black short shorts, and only because it was so warm, I wore them without leggings or fishnets underneath, just black calf high leg warmers with my boots, a black tank top with my flame resistant performance black halter pullover hooded jacket. This was my usual when I wasn’t working at the museum. I didn’t know if I was underdressed for a date with him.
“You look like....you.” She replied.
“I think Mr. richly handsome wine guy would have told you to dress up if it was somewhere fancy.” She added.
“But what if fancy is so his norm that he doesn’t think to tell me to dress up?”
“True. But where’s your attitude, Char? The sassy Char I know, would say fuck it. You really like this guy, don’t you?”
“I don’t know. I’m really drawn to him and not for his money... I wish that could be left out of the equation.” I replied.
“So, what do you want with him?”
“I don’t know. Not a romantic all-serious relationship, I’m not good with those.”
Amie laughed, “They always happen when you least expect it.”
I groaned.
“He only knows me from the museum, he probably has this certain idea of me. Ugh...I am so not of his stature.”
“Char, you’re freaking out.” Amie said, plainly.
“What if he has some weird, gross fetish --”
“Oh, please, like some of the fetishes you have aren’t crazy.”
“Well, I mean like golden showers and stuff. So, not my thing. I mean he’s too perfect, there’s got to be some hidden secret that’s a total turn off.”
“Go light some fire, that will settle you.”
Amie referring to me being a fire performance artist. I was always out here at night practicing some aspect of fire arts.
“No, I don’t want to go on a date smelling like a bonfire. He’ll probably think I don’t actually live in this house and just squat outside in a tent.”
"Ughhh...Charlotte, stop. freaking. out." She replied.

WeWriWa o7.o8.18

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors / Snippet Sunday!

We continue on where we left off last week. Last week, Karlea hung up on Jake and didn't tell him where she was.

"You didn't tell him where you were, you hung up instead. I'm impressed." Armani commented.
Karlea fought back her tears and boldly said, "It didn't feel right. Your blood and my stupid innate loyalty to it, pulled me away."
She thought about Jake, anger taking over. "You're right, though, he left me. He walked away. All because in the end, deep down he didn't want to turn me, after everything we had been through together. He didn't want to spend eternity with me."

Vampire Friday o7.o6.18

Welcome to Vampire Friday, my favorite day of the week!

We continue on right where we left off last time, where Jake sensed Reed.
(Some background because I have been absent from this blog hop for a while - Reed is one of the first & oldest vampires. He made Vaughn, and Vaughn then made Jake, so there's a bit of history between them all. Matt is Karlea's boss at the nightclub.)

Reed
"Go be with Karlea. I'll stall Reed." Matt said.
Jake shook his head, feeling Reed's presence. "He's already inside." Jake said, quietly with no emotion.
Jake closed his eyes and then turned around. Reed was sitting at the bar facing them. It had been at least a century since he had seen Reed. He looked good, as always, dressed in the latest fashions, looking like a young, wealthy CEO in his thirties. His hair dark brown and short. His eyes, where the brightest blue-grey, that mesmerized most humans, and could stare through anyone, human or not. Right now, they were staring through him.
"I was wondering when I would see you again, grand dad." Jake sarcastically said.
Reed snarled, "I hate when you call me that."

"Why I do it."
"You are no grand progeny of mine, Jake," Reed replied, "and neither is Vaughn. Where is he anyway, I'm surprised he's not attached to your hip?"
Reed nodded his head.
"I don't know, Reed, I think he's busy draining his current interns." Jake looked behind him to see that he and Matt where surrounded by Reed's men. With another nod from Reed, a few of his men scattered, to round up the human bartenders, DJ, and security team; Reed's men using compulsion to keep them quiet. The rest of the security team that were not human, ended up with paralyzing stakes in them.
"That girl, though," Reed continued, "she may have potential. She might make a good progeny of mine. Her blood is not only sweet, but strong, even though it was cold. I had a taste in the alley the other night, off the blade that stabbed her. I could only imagine what it tastes like warm."
Reed smiled, "So, where is she, Jake? I know she's here. I'm not going to harm her...yet. I have a few questions I need to ask her regarding a business matter."
"Go to hell, Reed." Jake replied.
Reed shook his head, "You're better off calling her because it isn't going to be so pretty if I have to find her."
Jake looked over at Matt.
"Really Jake? The two of you are going to fight me, with all my men surrounding you?"

Jake just stared at Reed, a low growl escaping him.

Midweek Tease o7.o4.18

Welcome to MidWeek Tease! Thanks to Angelica Dawson for hosting this fun blog hop!

We continue where left off last week, where Anton is preparing for his date with Charlotte.
I was taking a big risk tonight, in all my centuries I have never gotten this close to a human woman and been so consumed by her. It had been at least a century since I last dated a vampire. We had been together for awhile, only to find how incompatible we really were, her choice of dining on whomever she wanted did not fit my fancy and I couldn’t be the type of vampire she wanted me to be.  I tried, letting my past losses fuel me, and I found what the true monster in me could do. Coming to my senses, it scared the hell out of me knowing what I was capable of. Although, it was too late for the city of Paris, it was already a bloodbath. I spent the century learning to survive without killing, only enjoying a few one night stands here and there - all of them walking away in the morning.
Before this, out of boredom and loneliness, I had courted a young woman during the Civil War. Her humanness intrigued me. I wasn’t necessarily in love with her, but she gave me the time of day and her direct attention. We became engaged, and I had this horrible plan that I would turn her the night of our wedding. Only my monster took over and bled her dry, not letting me have the want of turning her, only to listening to her heart stop dead.
Charlotte I was already in love with, but I had no want of turning her or killing her. It was the monster inside that wanted these things. I took an unneeded breath and began to drive, practicing answers in my head and controlling my “breathing”.

WeWriWa o7.o1.18

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors / Snippet Sunday!

We continue on with Karlea's response to Jake...

"Jake, you don't need to worry about me anymore. I'm not yours."
She hung up as Jake yelled her name.

She wasn’t his anymore and wouldn’t be ever again.

She belonged to Armani. Her blood was his and his blood burned deep inside of her. It was pulling her back to him, the strong, unbreakable bond between them. It didn’t feel right going back Jake, what felt right was staying with Armani.

Armani entered back into the room, taking the phone from her shaking hand. She watched as he went out on the patio and threw the phone as far as he could, returning to the bedroom.
