Six Sentence Sunday 07.29.12

Welcome to another week of Six Sentence Sunday!
I have missed a few weeks and probably will miss more over the next month. It is official: I am moving to California, San Francisco to be exact! I move in less than two weeks! My moving POD was delivered on Friday and much smaller than the Upack truck we used to get to Atlanta, so much stuff will be left behind. The job came together in the last week and a half, and as of yesterday we have an apartment! I am so excited!!!

Onto other things (more on SF below), in this week's snippet we continue on where we left off; Vaughn is stuck in his fantasy of bringing Karlea to a vampire club. They are at the point where Karlea is realizing just exactly where she is...

“What is this place?” She asked.
“A members only vampire club.” Vaughn smiled. He noticed her heartbeat began to beat a little faster. She eyed the door.
“You’re a vampire.” She said, as if she was trying to get it to sink in.
Vaughn put his arm around her shoulders, holding her to him.

Back to SF...I still have my whole entire house to pack besides countless things to take care of in Atlanta. We still have to make arrangements to get our car shipped to our new home because we decided to fly there instead of drive. The drive to Atlanta was a nice vacation, but I don't think California will be the same, although I would love to see the scenery. I have seen enough horror movies to know I don't want to break down in the middle of nowhere between Texas and Arizona.

Note to Self: Change address with post office and put Netflix on hold!

The one problem I am having, is getting my son's pet hamster, named Hamsty to California. The airline will not let me bring him on board :( only cats and dogs. I do not know how to get him to California safely. If anyone one has any ideas or tips, please let me know. I would hate to tell my son that he can't bring him, he is apart of our family! And i don't want to do the whole find Hamsty a new home and buy my son a new one once we get there; his heart is with Hamsty.

Right now, my only option is to hire a pet relocation service, which is going to run 20 to 40 times the amount I paid for the little guy! (I plan on documenting Hamsty's moving experience for a short film :)). So, I am raising money to get Hamsty moved into his new home in California. If anyone can donate, my son and I would forever be appreciative! My son (and Hamsty) will send you a thank you card and if I do make my short film, I will certainly thank you in the credits!

Thank you! And please pass this along! And money made over the goal will be donated to an animal charity.

Thank you!

Six Sentence Sunday o7.o8.12

Welcome to another edition of Six Sentence Sunday!

This month is already flying by and I suppose I should be using my time (while my kids are sleeping) to find a new rental house, instead of posting to Six Sentence Sunday. But I'm not. The owner of the house just made it official that our lease is ending o7/31/12 while I was typing this!!!! If any readers live in San Francisco or Los Angeles, please leave me a comment on where good areas are to live in with decent public schools - i cannot afford private school at this time. Much <3, thanks!

Anyway, back to the story. We pick up where we left off last week. After a much wanted kiss from Vaughn, Karlea is beginning to realize what type of nightclub she is actually in and what Vaughn really is.

"You really need to look around," Vaughn instructed, looking into her eyes after he pulled away from kissing her.
Karlea did as she was told; the smile she had from Vaughn's kiss fading. She noticed the red eyes on some, the black eyes on others, and the normal eyes of humans; their th stamps glowing. Some humans had no stamp on them and they wandered the club with eyes and fangs watching them. Some even eyed Karlea. She noticed the couple on the sofa near them, the woman locked on the man’s neck, blood dripping down.

And that is six! I would love to keep going, but then I will be cut from the list. More next week!

Thanks for taking the time to read. Please comment, I love getting comments and I always return the favor :)

Six Sentence Sunday o7.o1.12

I can't believe its July already! I'm supposed to be moving to california in 31 days?! And I'm totally broke.
Anyway, let's continue on from last week.

Karlea returned the kiss, she smiled after they broke apart. Vaughn caressed her cheek.
“You need to see.” He said, “Look around.”
Karlea did as she was told. She began to see, really see, with nonhuman eyes.

Six Sentence Sunday o6.24.12

Welcome to another Six Sentence Sunday!

I want to apologize to any sixers that have commented on my work and I have not returned the favor. I seem to have too much on my plate at the moment and have considered taking a few weeks off from Six Sentence Sunday, but since their latest announcement of ending it in January 2013 (makes me very sad) I figure I might as well keep posting every sunday.

So, onward :) We shall continue where we left off last week.

“You’re not bartender Karlea while you’re with me, I will serve you.”
“Thanks,” She smiled, “you talk like you’re from another time period. Gentlemanly - I like it.”
Vaughn grinned, “You have no idea.”
He poured two more shots and they tipped them back, repeating the process a few times until they were satisfied. As they set down their shot glasses on the table, Vaughn leaned over and kissed her.

Six Sentence Sunday o6.17.12

Welcome to another Six Sentence Sunday!
Happy Father's Day to all fathers out there.

This week's snippet is another continuation of the scene from last week. In my WIP novel, BloodLust, Vaughn was having a fantasy of bringing Karlea as his guest to the members-only vampire club. She doesn't know vampires exist, and if she does, then she has been compelled to forget.

This started as an add-in to a part of my novel I already wrote, but then developed into this long side story, so I'm not really sure what to do with it yet.

In this scene, Vaughn and Karlea have just entered into the club, Flesh. Vaughn has her sitting close to the entrance of the club, not wanting her to figure anything out yet. They have ordered a bottle of Hennessy whiskey at Karlea's discretion.

“To you, enjoy yourself tonight.” Vaughn said.

They clinked their shot glasses together. Vaughn tipped his back like it was nothing, which for him it was nothing. But Karlea took it like a champ, not even making a face as the warm liquid hit the back of her throat and burned. They put their glasses down and Karlea instinctively reached for the neck of the bottle between her index and middle fingers. She was about to pour when Vaughn took the bottle from her.

On a side note, this week begins my adventure to becoming vegan and gluten-free. So, stay tuned for some interesting posts - it is sure to be entertaining. I've eaten meat/gluten my whole life and have decided to stop cold turkey for health reasons and to challenge myself - me not eating meat is like a vampire not drinking human blood. Any tips/suggestions are appreciated!

Have a great week!

Six Sentence Sunday o6.1o.12

Yay, its Sunday! And I have been having fun writing this little add-in scene to my novel; Vaughn's fantasy, that i started sharing last week. In this scene , they just entered into the member's-only club, Flesh. This is Karlea's first impression of the club...

Karlea was impressed as she stepped inside the club. It was slightly bigger than Virtu, but the elaborate velvet decor, including many sofas and chairs made it seem smaller. The decor was impressive and expensive. At a club like Virtu it would have easily been destroyed in one night, but Karlea guessed that with an expensive membership only club, people took better care of things instead of puking all over them. The music was loud, but not so loud, you couldn’t hear each other talk. And it wasn’t fast beat electronic, it was actually old time jazz.
Vaughn led her to a dark velvet sofa with a black glass coffee table near the entrance.

I wish I could give you more, but that was six. I had a hard time picking out this six because there is so much more good stuff to come, but I wanted to share Karlea's description of the club.

How long do you think it will be before she figures out that it is a vampire club?

Thanks for reading! And please comment!

Six Sentence Sunday o6.o3.12

Happy June! I  hope you are enjoying another round of Six Sentence Sunday! I want to thank you for taking the time to stop at my blog, I know there are so many great authors on the list.

So...let the fantasy begin. This week we get a look into the start of Vaughn's fantasy of bringing the bartender girl, Karlea, to Flesh - a private, member only, vampire nightclub.

Vaughn stood at the entrance of Flesh, the Virtu bartender girl at his side. She had no idea what she was about to walk into; Vaughn seeming innocent, wealthy, and nice to bring her as his guest. Security eyed her.
“My guest for the evening,” Vaughn said.
She watched as the security guard stamped her hand with two different blacklight stamps; guest and a th. She wondered what the th meant as Vaughn took her hand and escorted her in; the security guards taking in her wonderful human scent as she passed.

I think she will soon find out what the other stamp means, what do you think? Think she'll walk back out alive? Its a fantasy, anything can happen, haha.

Thanks for reading and please comment. Have a great week!
