Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors / Snippet Sunday! I hope everyone had a great holiday, if you celebrate!

Continuing on with my serial killer WIP. Where I last left off, my main character, Dennis, just walked into The Gentleman's Club for his hot date...
(creative punctuation used)

I walked past Pete's empty security booth inside and looked to the right. There she was already on stage, just about to be topless. She broke her concentration on the few gentleman in front of her to look over at me and smile, purposely dropping her purple polka dot bra on the floor next to the chair that sat on the stage with her near the stripper pole...it must have been one of her props tonight.

This was Serena Fire, and she WAS fire. Her hair was dyed a dark red and fell straight to her shoulders. Her skin was pale almost seemed to sparkle in the stage lights, as did the red gem that was on her naval piercing. She was short, I towered inches above her, if I had to guess, I would say she was around five five. And very petite. Her makeup was always put on lightly, unlike some of the other dancers who caked it on. Her breasts were real and the perfect size, not too huge and not too small, and they were pierced.

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors / Snippet Sunday!

Continuing on with my serial killer WIP. Where I last left off, my main character, Dennis, mentioned he had a hot date...

I found a clean wifebeater on the floor of my room and threw it on and went for my cleaner coveralls. My life always consisted of working on cars and motors, so there really wasn’t a need for any other clothes. I stepped into my work boots and headed outside, finding a rag on the porch, quickly wiping the desert off of my car.

I flew down the 14, weaving through the few cars on the road, hoping to make up some time since once I hit Los Angeles, I would no doubt be caught in traffic. Hitting the 5 was fine through San Fernando; traffic became more numerous and slower as Burbank approached, but it was still moving at a good pace. It slowed even more around the Griffith Park area, being that it was such a popular place for both locals and tourists alike, I stared at the skyscrapers in the distance as traffic slowed to almost a halt. I inched along for awhile at a turtle’s pace until I reached the Dodger’s Stadium exit, I could tell a game was in full swing on a Friday evening, which meant finding parking anywhere around the area was going to be a bitch. I navigated my way around the crowded streets, thankfully finding a parking spot between two cars near the bar; no one had probably wanted to try parallel parking, which was super easy for me, even with my Challenger. I walked towards the bar, glancing into the employee parking lot; her rusty, falling apart black Honda Accord was there, sure enough. Pete, the Gentleman’s Club bouncer, stood outside the entrance having his smoke, he nodded towards me and pulled the door open. I nodded to him and walked through, Pete wasn’t great with words unless he was kicking someone’s ass out of the club.

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors / Snippet Sunday!

Continuing on with my serial killer WIP. Where I last left off, my main character, Dennis, just finished talking about his relationship with his brother. Continuing on...

I was getting into a groove for fixing up cars while helping customers find what they needed. It was easy to become the one man show. Promptly at six o’clock, while there were no customers, I shut and locked the gate to the road. I finished the oil change on the old Oldsmobile Cutlass and locked up shop.

Gunning the engine, I flew down the dirt road back the way I came, taking a detour to tear up Derrick’s dirt yard around his house with donuts, skidding and drifting over the dirt. I floored it towards his pickup, wanting to smash the shit out of it and push it through his house, but I didn’t want to put a dent in my car. I cranked the wheel, hitting the breaks, and drifted to a perfect stop next to his truck. I stared at it for a minute before hitting the gas to the floor and taking off.

Once back at my place, I stripped off my greasy coverall and headed to the shower to wash away the oil and grime. I had my usual hot date, like I did almost every night and I didn’t want to go to her smelling like the shop.

Thanks for reading! I'm having a hard time keeping up with everything and with carving out time to write. This school year seems way more intense than last year. Any other teachers feeling the same way?

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors / Snippet Sunday!

Continuing on with my serial killer WIP. Where I last left off, my main character, Dennis, was talking about his relationship with his brother.

That one Saturday, Derrick and decided to play a game of baseball, his friends versus mine. He kept calling us the cry babies. We were determined to beat him and we did. Derrick being the sore loser, took to the baseball bat. He urged his friends to hold me down. They refused, so he threatened to beat them with the bat instead. Complying they held me down as Derrick shattered my left leg with the baseball bat. Bones crunching underneath the wooden bat. I can still hear it sometimes. When he was done, he threw the bat and hit one of his friends square in the head.

When we were older teenagers, we used our fists. I was bigger and could hold my own finally, even though my leg put me in a slight disadvantage. Even with the shop yard, we fought all the time and he was still constantly mocking me - this time about my leg and whatever else he could find. I was glad he was finally gone.

Thanks for reading! I'm not really sure where November went, its all a blur. I spent the last two weeks with Corona positive kids at home. I feel like I just woke up from a very long hibernation and don't know what's going on. Like the only thing I could focus on was taking care of them.

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors / Snippet Sunday!

Continuing on where we left off two weeks ago, this is more about Derrick in Dennis' pov.

Derrick. The older brother. We got along when we were little kids, best friends even, but once the excessive drinking started that was it. We each had our own way of dealing with constantly drunk and addicted parents, an abusive father who went down the line every night. First, it was our mother who took the worst of it, thankfully not feeling much of it because she was too trashed. Then there was Derrick. And by the time, he got to me, he didn’t have much in him before blacking out.

Derrick dealt with by constantly pushing me around and mocking me for everything, even for the same ratty shoes we wore. He wore the ratty shoes better. Everything I did was never as good as him. I was small, insignificant, and like a ghost. He reminded me hourly of this.

We lived in the desert town of Blythe, on the California - Arizona border, in an old shack for a house, surrounded by ghost towns and nuclear testing grounds.

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors / Snippet Sunday!

Continuing on where we left off last week, Deputy Miller is in the shop questioning Dennis about where his brother is. The first line is Deputy Miller.

"So you’re not worried?" “No, I’ll let you know when he turns up.” I said. Deputy Miller shook his head and started to walk out. “By the way was the woman that reported, a Donna Singleton?” This time it was Miller’s turn to nod. “Derrick probably got sick of her, she’s a dope fiend, probably just looking for more money from my brother to feed her habit that’s why she’s concerned. Tell your buddy to check on her, I’m sure you’ll find all kinds of things to get her on.” “Thanks for the info,” Miller said, “I’ll pass it on.” I nodded and grinned, “You sure you don’t want that bigger engine?” Miller laughed and waved it off before walking out.

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors / Snippet Sunday!

Last week Deputy Miller came into the shop to ask the whereabouts of Dennis' brother. Continuing on where we left off, Dennis' last line was that he and his brother were engine people, not cell phone people...

“Fair enough.” Miller replied, “He didn’t mention any specific place? The lady that filed was really concerned.”

“He might have mentioned going to Vegas to try to win big, that was three weeks ago.”

“You’re not concerned that he didn’t return?”

“No, he does this shit all the time; my guess is he met someone in Vegas and took off somewhere with them, decided not to come back, maybe someone to pay his way."

Miller looked at me.

“Its not like he sends me fucking postcards.” I paused, “I don’t know if you know, but Derrick and I don’t really have a good relationship. Honestly, the shop is a lot quieter without him, might be double the work for me but at least I don’t have to argue with him all day.”
